Spotify Layoffs

In April of 2022, I transitioned from Intrepid Networks to Spotify. I was placed on the Client Platform studio and was excited to get to work. After a brief introduction into Bazel, I was ready to get started. I met a lot of great individuals at Spotify over the course of the next (almost) 2 years. I also got the chance to fly over to Sweden and visit the Stockholm office.

Unfortunately, I was selected as part of the 17% in the December 4th layoffs. I had just started my PTO for December when I got the news from someone outside of Spotify. I raced to my laptop and logged into see the dreaded calendar invite: Org Update Anthony Todd. I had survived 2 layoffs at Spotify, but I got hit by the 3rd round. Thus my contributions to Spotify came to end.

It was a wonderful experience while it lasted and I wish I had more time with my former colleagues. Adding my name to the list of "Affected Spotifiers" made it more real for me.

After some reflection I've decided to continue with my planned time off for December and then I'll start actively looking for new work and until then I'll passively browse what's around. This will give me some much needed time to work on things like this website I've been meaning to update. And some house projects my wife wants me to do. And some things my mom has been harassing me about.
